via Phnom Penh Post, 28 April 2023: The Apsara Authority installs benches under the shade for toruists at Angkor Wat, a welcome addition especially during this hot season!
The Apsara National Authority (ANA) is setting up wooden benches in the shade under trees at Angkor Wat for tourists, especially the elderly, to rest during their visit.
In a social media post, the ANA said the benches were done as part of the work of restoring infrastructure, organising public order, arranging gardens, planting saplings, cleaning the environment, maintaining the temples and environmental work within the Angkor Archaeological Park.
Sek Vida, technical officer of the Tourism Equipment Inspection Team of the Department of Tourism Development and Culture, said these wooden benches will also help protect the temple stones and grass around the temple as visitors previously often sat on the stones or grass when they needed to rest.
