via Khmer Times, 30 July 2024: The Apsara National Authority is inspecting trees in Angkor Archaeological Park to ensure tourist safety after a tree collapse resulted in one death and several injuries. Emergency measures include pruning hazardous branches and urging tourists to be cautious during the rainy season. The fallen tree at Tonle Om Bridge has been cleared, and the incident highlights the need for regular safety checks.
Kosal said that ANA officials are inspecting trees in the Angkor Archaeological Park and will cut off and remove any branches posing a risk to visitors.
“We want to prevent another accident happening. Inspecting the trees in the Angkor Archaeological Park is a safety measure aimed to protect tourists. We want to people visiting the Park to have good memories,” he said.
He explained that pruning trees will be conducted by professionals with checks made by expert officials.
He also appealed to tourists to be careful around big trees when visiting the park as there has been much rain and storms in the Angkor area.
