Soy Sophearin, who is in charge of the project to renovate three Buddha statues on the Bakan floor of Angkor Wat, said that about 90 percent of the work has now been completed. Work on the statutes started in mid-January 2022.
The authorities reported that prior to the repair, the statue was very damaged and needed to be repaired and preserved immediately. The team had to clean up the statue before the restoration due to dirt, salt and blood urine and dropping on the statues.
