via the Siam Society, a workshop on 29 June on Southeast Asian and Chinese ceramics. Registration is required to nichakorn@siam-society.org
Join us on Saturday, 29 June 2019 for a day-long (10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.) ceramics workshop and handling session. Listen to collectors (Pariwat Thammapreechakorn, Pimpraphai Bisalputra, Thanyakarn Wong-on, and Dawn Rooney) talk about Southeast Asian and Chinese ceramics (whole pieces and shards). A workshop will follow giving you an opportunity to handle the shards, talk with collectors, and engage in lively discussions on the subject.
The morning session will cover Southeast Asian wares – Khmer, Thai (Sawankholok/Si Satchanalai and Sukhothai), Northern Thai (Kalong, Sankamphaeng and Phan), and Burmese. After a lunch break (on your own), the afternoon session will explore Chinese trade wares found in Thailand (blue and white, enamelled, and Bencharong).
Relevant titles will be for sale and selected books from the Siam Society Library will be on hand for your viewing.
Bring your friends, visitors, and anyone you know who may be interested in the subject. At the end of the day, leave with a greater understanding and appreciation of Asian ceramics found in Thailand.
