via Khmer Times, 21 July 2024: The Department of Land Management and the Apsara National Authority have successfully completed the renovation of the ancient vihara at Wat Preah Enkosei. The meticulous restoration, led by Sim Bunthoeun, preserved the vihara’s authentic form using original materials, emphasizing the importance of maintaining Cambodia’s architectural heritage.
The recognition of the vihara’s historical and cultural value as a symbol of Cambodia’s art history further underscores the importance of such conservation efforts.
The call for all pagodas to prioritise the preservation of ancient viharas, rather than replacing them with new structures, is a crucial reminder of the need to safeguard Cambodia’s architectural heritage for future generations.
