via Daily Express, 18 November 2023: Malaysia is set to host the International I-Ching (Yijing) Conference in Sungai Petani, Kedah, marking the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations with China. The conference will delve into the history of the Bujang Valley, drawing information from Chinese sources, including insights from the 7th-century Chinese traveler Yi-Jing.
Malaysia will host the International I-Ching Conference in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of Malaysia-China diplomatic relations, in Sungai Petani, Kedah which will be held before the middle of next year.
National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang said the conference would specifically discuss the history of the Bujang Valley and obtain information from sources in China.
“We will try to compare the latest facts from this conference about Kedah of old from existing information,” he told reporters after attending the International Symposium of the International Committee for Museology Asia Pacific 2023 (ICOFOM ASPAC) here.
Earlier, Aaron had said that the history of Ancient Malay civilisation had been extensively recorded by a Chinese figure, Bujannga Yi-Jing, who once set foot in the Bujang Valley in the 7th century.
