via Daily Tribune, 19 May 2023: An archaeological site in Rizal, Kalinga, Philippines, has been declared a national cultural treasure by the National Museum, featuring ancient animal remains dating back to 709,000 years and providing evidence of early human presence in the area, with the findings displayed at the National Museum of Natural History.
An archaeological site in the municipality of Rizal, Province of Kalinga is now regarded as a national cultural treasure following the declaration of the National Museum of the Philippines through its archaeological division.
The declaration is one of the highlights of the celebration of the Heritage month in Kalinga.
Six years ago, animal bones believe to be more than a thousand years old were dug up at the municipality while archaeological findings were also extracted at the site were dated to 709,000 years old.
