via Phnom Penh Post, 13 May 2023: Specialists from the APSARA National Authority are repairing the damaged sandstone window frames at the southwest corner of the second gallery of Angkor Wat Temple using various restoration techniques, and will also be adding wooden bars to protect them and prevent tourists from climbing through the windows.
Specialists from the Department of Conservation of Monuments and Preventive Archaeology under the APSARA National Authority (ANA) are repairing the sandstone window frames at the southwest corner of the second gallery of the Angkor Wat Temple, which were in danger of collapsing.
Soy Sophearith, an archaeologist and conservation agent at Angkor Wat, said that due to the ages of the building and its exposure to the sun, rain, water seepage and moss, the windows and parts of the structure of the second gallery are badly damaged.
