via Khmer Times, 06 January 2023:
Indicating a renewed interest in travelling, the famous UNESCO World Heritage Centre Angkor Archaeological Park, attracted 287,454 foreign tourists in 2022 and earned $11.5 million last year, the state-owned Angkor Enterprise said in a statement.
However, the earnings and number of international travellers at the 401-square-km park, located in northwest Siem Reap province, is less than what it earned before the pre-pandemic period. Showing recovery signs from 2022, Angkor now attracts between 1,800 and 2,000 foreign visitors daily, significantly improving from only 70 international tourists a day during the pandemic period in 2020 and 2021. The historical site used to attract around 9,000 international tourists daily before the pre-pandemic era.
