Over 2 million tourists likely to visit Siem Reap this year

via Khmer Times, 18 August 2022: I know, just last week the Khmer Times said that they were expecting 1.3 million tourists this year. I do not know why the jump in numbers.

At least 2.27 million tourists are expected to visit the Siem Reap province, home to the famous UNESCO-listed Angkor Archaeological Park, by the end of this year, said Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism. A total of 534,005 people visited the province in 2021.

The tourism sector is expected to benefit from the country’s decision to allow vaccinated visitors in the country. Besides the government has effectively controlled the Covid-19 pandemic, boosting the confidence of overseas tourists.
