via Myanmar Times, 03 Feb 2021: An update from an earlier report.
Hotels and guesthouses in the ancient city of Bagan have applied to the relevant authorities for permission to resume operations.
Letters with signatures from the respective hotels and guesthouses were collected and submitted to the regional authorities on January 31 to seek consent for them toreopen.
The extended closure of the hotel business due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in difficulties for the hotel staff and their families. Many of them want toreturn to work as the number of new COVID-19 cases is dropping, said the hoteliers.
