Temple gives sculpture fragments to Apsara Authority

via Khmer Times (and other stories below), 14 October 2020: The chief monk of a temple in Siem Reap donates a collection of sculptural fragments dating from the 12-16th century to the Apsara Authority.

Pieces of statues and stone sculptures found by Preah Intep pagoda chief monk, Sem Sam, were handed over to the Apsara Authority yesterday to ensure their protection for future generations.

Apsara Authority spokesman Long Kosal said that he received 41 pieces of statues and stone sculptures after they had been temporarily stored in Preah Intep pagoda in the southeast corner of Bayon temple.

He added that some of the statues were of the Bayon style from the late 12th to early 13th centuries, and some were of the medieval style from the 15th or 16th centuries.
