  • Chiang Saen is a Lanna-period town that was controlled by the Burmese and Siamese at different times. Today it sits on the Thai side of the border, near the Golden Triangle separating Myanmar, Laos and Thailand. The walled city was a major centre of Buddhism for the Lanna kingdom, and there are numerous temple ruins to explore. via PBS, 12 Feb 2020: An episode of Expedition airing on PBS today features Dr Pindi Setiawan and the rock art of Borneo. I think only residents of the US can see the video, unless you have a VPN (If you need a recommendation, I use Express VPN).

Local people believe these mountains are sacred and revere them as the birthplace of their ancestors. The local elders give the team their blessing to enter this hidden world. Steve is joined by Indonesian rock art expert Dr. Pindi Setiawan who has spent his life exploring these cliffs and they discover something extraordinary.
