MUNGKIN ramai terutama generasi muda masih kurang tahu Lembah Lenggong yang terletak di Hulu Perak, Perak ini sebenarnya memiliki banyak tinggalan sejarah awal penempatan dan ketamadunan manusia.
Penempatan kira-kira 80 kilometer (km) dari bandar raya Ipoh ini mula mendapat perhatian masyarakat berikutan penemuan rangka manusia tertua di Malaysia dikenali sebagai Orang Perak. Tulang rangka Orang Perak berusia antara 10,000 hingga 11,000 tahun ini ditemui di dalam Gua Gunung Runtuh terletak di Bukit Kepala Gajah pada 1991.
Penemuan bersejarah dan turut menggemparkan dunia arkeologi ini adalah hasil penyelidikan yang dibuat Pusat Penyelidikan Arkeologi Malaysia (MARC) Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) dengan kerjasama Jabatan Muzium Malaysia.
