Phnom Banan, meanwhile, holds the best preserved 11th century mountaintop Angkorian ruin in Battambang. The temple’s distinctive five towers resemble that of Angkor Wat in Siem Reap. To climb up, visitors will take more than 350 steps. But you’ll soon discover that it’s worth the sweat as you see the peaceful and pleasant ambiance from the top. Visitors can get a superb view of the countryside, the endless green rice paddies and sugar palm trees, and the tranquility of the provincial life that is very evident around the mountain.
