Stone tools are an important part of the archaeological record as they are durable, and can tell us about the technological sophistication of people in the past – what kind of tools they produced, and what they were used for. They are associated with the stone ages of Southeast Asia, e.g. the Palaeolithic and the Neolithic (although there is some fuzziness around these terms). One of the most distinctive Southeast Asian stone tool industry is the Hoabinhian, which dates from the late-to-terminal Pleistocene to early-to-mid Holocene.
