A skull dating to about 500 BC was found in a cliff-side in Rembang, Java.
2,650 Years Human Skull Found in Rembang

The skull found in Rembang, Central Java, is estimated to be 2,650 years old, originating from 500 BC. They are believed to be Austronesians.
The conclusion is the result of a carbon research by the Yogyakarta Archaeological Center and the Laboratory of Geology Directorate of Bandung. “From the samples we sent, Bandung Geology Directorate ensures that the site is 2,650 years old,” said Gunadi, Chief of Archaeologist Team of the Yogyakarta Archaeological Center, yesterday.
The prehistoric site was found on Binangun and Plawangan beach at District Lasem, last November. In addition, the team discovered prehistoric artifacts in Laren Beach, District Sluke.
