via Khmer Times, 22 June 2023: The Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts introduces a new system to identify and manage unregistered antiquities nationwide, facilitating data management and increasing registration of artifacts in public places.
The dissemination of the new system was achieved by a national training course for provincial officials across the country to demonstrate how to use the online archeological data storage and management sharing system, he added.
“The introduction of the system makes it is easy to manage the data,” he said.
“We have created an online database to make it easier for provincial departments of the ministry to enter data when they register new artefacts.”
Samnang explained that before 2007 there was no registration of artefacts, but after the Department of Artefacts was established, the MCFA sent a list of those to be identified, registered and managed and to prevent their movement from the original location.
