via Khmer Times, 12 July 2022: It sounds like this cultural park is going to be along the lines of the Angkor Archaeological Park, geared towards tourism and the two local heritage sites.
A mega cultural preservation park will be constructed on more than 200 hectares of land in Preah Vihear province to attract tourists and as an area for the conservation and study of Khmer civilisation.
“Construction for this mega cultural park broke ground on Wednesday. The ground-breaking ceremony was presided over by Lieutenant General Hun Manet, and accompanied by other military and senior civil officials,” said Preah Vihear provincial spokeswoman Hem Sokonpisey.
Speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony, Lt Gen Manet, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces and Commander of Royal Cambodian Army, said: “This park is part of the government’s border development project to protect territorial integrity, foster socio-economic development, and promote human settlement.”
