via Khmer Times, 29 June 2021: The Apsara Authority is doing a Marie Kondo in Angkor Thom, and packing and storing 3,000 loose architectural stones found around the Bayon. These artefacts spark joy, obviously!
Apsara Authority yesterday collected nearly 3,000 ancient temple stones that have been scattered in the Bayon temple complex for many years to keep at a secure location in the Angkor area.
Apsara spokesman Long Kosal said yesterday that these temple stones scattered in the centre of the Bayon temple have been there for hundreds of years.
Kosal said that according to Apsara’s research, some of the rocks fell from a nearby temple and some were transported there while French experts were repairing the Bayon temple between 1913 and 1929.
