via VOI.ID, 29 April 2021: Indonesian article about a large 24m-long ship found in Jambi province. Not much information about the context of the site except for the date and that the site is inland rather than underwater.
Sebuah perahu kuno ditemukan di desa Lambur, Jabung Timur, Provinsi Jambi. Berdasarkan riset, panjang perahu kuno tersebut adalah 24 meter dengan lebar 5,5 meter dan dibuat pada awal abad ke-16 Masehi.
Dosen Departemen Arkeologi Fakultas Ilmu Pengetahuan Budaya (FIB) Universitas Indonesia (UI) Ali Akbar mengatakan, penemuan ini membuktikan kapal nusantara mampu menjelajahi dunia sebelum kedatangan bangsa Eropa.
Bangsa Eropa dikenal sebagai penjelajah dunia sekitar abad ke-14 Masehi. Namun penemuan ini membuktikan, bangsa Indonesia juga mampu berlayar ke Persia sekitar abad ke-10 Masehi.
