Preah Khan artefacts finally given to Apsara for repairs

via Khmer Times, 27 October 2020: Ceramics found during the repir of a canal near Preah Khan temple have been given to the Apsara Authority.

Apsara Authority last week accepted 19 ancient earthenware vessels, two pieces of stone sculptures, one mortar and pestle, and around 30 pottery pieces discovered during the restoration of a canal at Preah Khan temple.

Apsara Authority Water Management Department official Nhem Raksmey said on Sunday the artefacts were excavated in March when the team restored 1,700 metres of canal.

“These artefacts were buried more than a metre deep,” he said. “The team kept the objects until the completion of the canal restoration, then handed them over to the Angkor Research and Documentation Centre to be preserved.”
