Adanya pengusutan lahan kebun sagu untuk pembuatan jalan alternatif untuk mempermudah transportasi pada saat Pekan Olahraga Nasional (PON) ke XXI di Distrik Sentani Timur, Kabupaten Jayapura teryata dapat membuka penemuan terhadap situs prasejarah bernama Situs Ayennem di Kampung Asei Kecil, Distrik Sentani Timur, Kabupaten Jayapura.
Pemilik lokasi atau lahan Ayennem, Corry Ohee mengatakan, lokasi situs prasejarah Ayennem ini sejak dulu nenek moyang tinggal sebelum pindah ke Pulau Asei.
“Di Situs Ayennem ini ditemukan pecahan gerabah juga ditemukan kapak batu, batu penokok sagu dan batu asah,” kata Corry saat ditemui Cenderawasih Pos di Kampung Asei, Sabtu (13/6).
