Exploring the Rich Heritage of the Dai People

via Khmer Times, 19 July 2023: A China-Laos Railway media tour explores the culture, costumes, and traditions of the Dai people in Yunnan province, including their unique written language.

The Dai people are several Tai-speaking ethnic groups living in the Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture and the Dehong Dai and Jingpo Autonomous Prefecture of Yunnan.

Different from some other ethnic groups who have only their spoken language, the Dai people have maintained both their spoken and written language for generations, especially using the ancient way of writing manuscripts on palm leaves. Khmer Times’ National Editor Ben Sokhean captured the activities.
