via Khmer Times, 19 January 2023: Negotiations between the Cambodian ministries of Interior and Culture.
Minister of Interior Sar Kheng on Tuesday made a public appeal to the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts for land to build five police stations in the Angkor park.
Kheng made the request in the presence of Minister of Culture and Fine Arts Phoeurng Sackona during the inauguration of Angkor Heritage Protection Police Building in Siem Reap province.
“In the past, we had 59 police stations, but now we have only 19, out of which only five are big, the rest are small in size,” Kheng said.
Kheng also urged the Heritage Protection Police to increase patrols, especially at night, at the main points of Angkor Wat and other nearby areas.
