via Khmer Times, 26 August 2022: The National Museum of Cambodia is making a nation-wide appeal for Preah Bot or hand-painted Buddha images.
Hand-painted Buddha images on canvas, known as Preah Bot or Pra Bot, are displayed at many traditional Khmer ceremonies such as birthdays and funerals, which locals borrow from pagodas for the occasion, however, creating the images has become less popular, so the National Museum of Cambodia (NMC) is asking people to donate the art works to the museum for preservation.
NMC yesterday reached out to pagodas and the public nationwide to hand over any Preah Bots to the museum as the images are becoming rare and being replaced by plastic and printed versions.
