Shrine of Saint Anne now a minor basilica

via The Manila Times, 27 July 2022: The designation of basilica is given by the Holy See, and is granted for ceremonial purposes recognising some sort of artistic, religious or historical significance.

THE Diocese of Pasig now has its first minor basilica after the Vatican approved this week a decree granting the title to the Archdiocesan Shrine of Saint Anne located in Taguig City.

Pasig Bishop Mylo Vergara announced the approval of the decree by the Dicastery for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments on Tuesday in a Mass celebrated at the shrine also known as Saint Anne Parish Church or Santa Ana Church.

“The Holy See approved already our request of a decree granting the title of a minor basilica to the Archdiocesan Shrine of St. Anne. Thanks be to God,” he said.
