The Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts is working with the University of Hawaii and the University of Oregon on an archaeological dig at the Baset Temple in Battambang province in a research project called P’teah to better understand the ancient common Khmer people.
Kim Sophorn, director of Battambang provincial department of Culture and Fine Arts, said: “Our archaeological field researchers and foreign experts are taking a bottom-up approach to better understand the Angkorian Empire around Baset temple.”
