via Khmer Times, 25 March 2022: Updates from ICC-Angkor. I’ve posted lots of news stories in the past that show that the pandemic has been a great time for restoration work at the Angkor Archaeological Park.
International Coordinating Committee for the Safeguarding and Development of Historic Site of Angkor (ICC-Angkor) stated that the conservation work on the temples continued despite the pandemic.
The ICC-Angkor held its 35th Technical Meeting on the morning of March 24 in Siem Reap under the presidency of the Minister of Culture and Fine Arts Dr Phoeurng Sackona, Minister of Tourism Thong Khon and UNESCO Representative, Sardar Umar Alam.
Christophe Gigaudaut, Counsellor for Cooperation and Cultural Affairs, French Embassy in Cambodia and ICC-Angkor Co-Chair, expressed his pleasure at being able to meet in person after a two-year absence due to Covid-19. Gigaudaut claimed that despite the Covid-19 pandemic, preservation efforts of the temples and instead of the work diminishing the ICC-Angkor achieved many results.
