via Phnom Penh Post, 09 January 2022: Wat Preah Enkosei in Siem Reap has some Angkorian ruins in its grounds, but the repairs are for the modern buildings.
Apsara National Authority (ANA), Buddhist monks and a private company are joining hands to repair an old Buddhist temple in Preah Enkosei pagoda in Traing village of Siem Reap town’s Slakram commune.
A ceremony was held on January 7 to mark the beginning of restorations, attended by ANA director-general Hang Peou, Heng Development Co Ltd director-general Sieng Chan Heng, Buddhist monks and devotees.
The ANA noted in a statement that the temple has sustained severe damage from natural processes and human actions during wartime: its foundation has shifted, and its cracked roof and walls pose significant risk to people.
