New links and digital resources (Oct 2021 update)

Especially if you’ve only been receiving archaeology news via email or on Facebook, you may not have realised that I’ve recently revamped the resource guides (plural, because there are so many that I’ve had to split them up into themes). Please have a look, and feel free to contact me to suggest new or updated links. Here are some of the latest additions that I’ve added this month:

New in Digital Resources on Southeast Asian Archaeology
This is the main directory page and a good place to start. I’ve added a new section for podcasts and YouTube channels

• HERstory: Southeast Asia – The history of Southeast Asia, told from “her” perspective with informative takes on the (often lesser-known) female figures of Southeast Asia’s past
• History of Southeast Asia – Podcast with over a hundred episodes by Charles Kimball. The earlier episodes talk about the archaeology of Southeast Asia, but because it is a grand narrative, some of the details can be out of date. I would use it as an introductory-level resource.
• World’s Forgotten Temples – A YouTube channel by Paulo Bonini featuirng the many Khmer temples in Cambodia – not just the big popular ones, but also the smaller obscure ones.

New in Data Repositories and References

• Southeast Asian Archaeological Site Reports – Technical data repository run by NUS Press, with site reports from Singapore and Indonesia

New in Archaeological Projects in Southeast Asia

• Project Avenger – An archaeological project to identify World War II aircraft crash sites in Hong Kong. Yes, I realise Hong Kong is traditionally part of Southeast Asia, but I sometimes index news stories from Hong Kong as part of a larger category of Peripheral Southeast Asia.
