via Khmer Times, 09 March 2021: Reports of looting around an ancient dam site in Siem Reap.
Those residing in and around the ancient Khmer Prek Chik Dam have been told to stop their illegal excavation activities to find ancient treasures to make brick-and-tile handicrafts.
In making the call, the Apsara Authority said the dam also known as Prek Sramoch Dam or Sampov Road was built by Khmer ancestors to be used as a waterway to transport stones and materials to build temples in the Angkor area.
It said that people should not loot the ancient artifacts and antiquities but rather preserve the site and the cultural heritage left by the ancestors during the Angkorian period.
