via Xinhua, 01 December 2020: Unsurprising, on account of Covid-19.
Cambodia’s famed Angkor Archeological Park received 399,720 international visitors during the first 11 months of 2020, a decrease of nearly 80 percent over the same period last year, the state-owned Angkor Enterprise said on Tuesday.
The ancient park made 18.6 million U.S. dollars in revenue from ticket sales during the January-November period this year, a drop of 79 percent year-on-year, it said in a statement.
In November alone, the site welcomed only 1,235 foreigners earning 52,380 dollars, down 99.3 percent and 99.4 percent, respectively compared to the same month last year, it said.
The huge slump was due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic that has forced the Southeast Asian nation to impose entry restrictions for all foreign travelers since March.
