Illegal treasure hunting in Igbaras town ordered stopped

via SunStar Iloilo, 04 February 2020: The National Museum of the Philippines directs the group of treasure hunters in Iloilo looking to cease their activities with immediate effect and to rehabilitate the excavated land.

The National Museum of the Philippines (NMP) has ordered a group of treasure hunters in Igbaras, Iloilo to stop their illegal activities.

In a letter addressed to Nony Laquihon Bayogos dated January 31, 2020, NMP Director General Jeremy Barns said all the treasure hunting works in Igbaras town with treasure hunting permit CPD-THP-2019-20 are deemed unauthorized and considered illegal.

The NMP told Bayogos that the permit his group has been using was issued to another name for activities in Sitio Lanod, Barangay Punean, Carangalan, Nueva Ecija.
