via CGTN, 04 May 2023: A video on how Chinese and Myanmar restorers are working to preserve Thatbyinnyu, which was damaged during the 2016 earthquake.
Thatbyinnyu, the highest pagoda in Myanmar’s historical city of Bagan, was more than 800 years old when it was severely damaged by an earthquake in 2016. To save it from further deterioration, a cultural relic restoration team arrived promptly from China and worked with local experts to complete an emergency reinforcement project before the region’s rainy season. It was only the beginning of a comprehensive nine-year restoration project.
