via Saigon Giai Phong, 10 February 2022: Recent excavations at the Ho Citadel World Heritage Site have revealed structures that may be the remains of the main palace.
The Citadel of Ho Dynasty (sited in Vinh Loc District of Thanh Hoa Province) was recognized as a World Cultural Heritage in 2011 by UNESCO thanks to its large-stone walls, which was a unique architectural structure in Vietnam and neighboring nations. Newest discoveries at this excavation site have revealed possible vestiges of the Main Palace.
During the two years of 2020-2021, Vietnam Archaeology Institute cooperated with the Ho Dynasty Citadel Heritage Conservation Center to dig at six spots of the used-to-be Ho Dynasty Citadel, with the total area of 25,000m2. The excavation discovered four vestige groups of Tran – Ho architecture, two of Le So architecture, and one of Le Trung Hung architecture
