via Khmer Times, 28 May 2020: Siem Reap’s chief monk calls for local temples to comply with the APSARA Authority’s regulations on construction within the Angkor Archaeological Park.
Siem Reap Provincial Chief Monk and head of the Monastery’s Affairs Council, Kimrong Kimleng has called on concerned parties to cancel the construction of a temple located at Angkor Thom.
Kimleng insisted that the pagoda committee comply with the regulations imposed by the APSARA authority and undergo an evaluation prior to the construction of any infrastructure as part of sustaining the authenticity of the major site that exemplifies cultural, religious and symbolic values, as well as containing high architectural, archaeological and artistic significance.
