via Antara/Tempo, 26 January 2024: The Indonesian government is advancing the Borobudur National Strategic Tourism Zone with a Rp253.2 billion investment in Phase II development, focusing on enhancing road access, homestays, and area management. This initiative, led by the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, aims to conserve cultural heritage, transform Borobudur’s tourism infrastructure, and elevate the comfort for visitors.
The Indonesian Minister of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono said the ministry is supporting the development of the Borobudur National Strategic Tourism Zone (KSPN Borobudur) with three programs. Those include road access, improvement of homestays, and management of the area.
“The development of Borobudur through infrastructure development of water resource, road, and bridges, settlement, and housing complex,” he said on Thursday, Jan. 26.
The three programs, Basuki explained, include access to toll roads and otherwise to facilitate visitors of Borobudur. Second, the improvement of homestays across the Borobudur corridors to promote business development. And third, management of the area.
