via Eleven Myanmar, 06 Feb 2018:
The ASEAN-Korea Centre (Secretary General Kim Young-sun) will organize the Tourism Capacity Building Workshop under the theme, “Promoting Bagan as a Sustainable Cultural Heritage Tourism Destination” in Bagan, Myanmar together with the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism (MHT) of Myanmar on 9 February 2018. The Workshop will bring together tourism professionals from Myanmar and Korea to come up with strategies to transform Bagan into a sustainable cultural heritage tourism destination as well as to share knowledge and best practice
Kim Young-sun, Secretary General of the ASEAN-Korea Centre noted, “The number of Korean tourists to Myanmar is continuously increasing, to reach 65,875 in 2017. Among many other tourism sites in the country, Bagan is one of the richest archaeological sites and provides views quite unlike anywhere else on earth. As Myanmar promotes Bagan as one of the World Heritage Sites, we found it most timely to hold the Workshop in Bagan to increase competitiveness of Myanmar’s tourism industry particularly in terms of cultural heritage tourism. I hope this Workshop would contribute to strengthening the capacity of local tourism professionals in Bagan, and offer tourism products and services that are distinctively focused on Korean tourists.
