We’re well in the middle of tourist season at Angkor, and we’re seeing some preliminary statistics: 170,000 visitors in October - and the highest concentration of visitors from South Korea and China.

The percentage is unclear, but they just shared the majority, the paper quoted a report from the provincial tourism authority assaying.

Meanwhile, altogether 170,180 people visited Siem Reap in October, it said.

Among them, 86,833 were foreigners, a 22.15 percent increase over the same period last year, and 83,347 Cambodians, a rise of 50.93 percent, it said.

What’s really surprising is the rise of visits by Cambodians - although it’s hard to tell if the rise is due to domestic tourism (inferring rising affluence, which I don’t really think is the case), or just more people coming to Siem Reap to seek their fortune.
