Plans to preserve the ancient capital of Hue
09 May 2007 (Vietnam Net Bridge) - The Vietnamese imperial capital of Hue was the first unified capital of Vietnam under the Nguyen Dynasty which ruled until 1945.
Thua Thien-Hue irons out imperial city preservation plan
The central province of Thua Thien-Hue has sought the government’s approval of a plan to preserve the ruins of the imperial capital of Hue , a world heritage site, through 2020.
The province has proposed a budget of 3 trillion VND (187.5 million USD) for the plan.
In preparation, the provincial authorities on May 8 discussed with officials from the Vietnam National Council for Cultural Heritages the restoration and preservation work in order to promote the value of the city.
In the past decade, the locality has done a lot in restoring and preserving the ruins, including the Ngo Mon Gate, Thai Hoa Palace , Dien Tho Palace, Truong Sanh Palace , Tombs of Emperors Tu Duc and Minh Mang and Thien Mu pagoda.
